Frances McDormand is no stranger to award shows, and yet, her win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie marks her first Emmy win. McDormand took home the award for her work onOlive Kitteridge, in which she played the titular character as the series chronicled Olive’s 25-year relationship with her husband, Henry.
The actress gave what must have been the shortest acceptance speech in recorded history, which was more than likely a relief to producers who had rolled out the play-off music more than once by the time McDormand hit the Microsoft Theater stage.
“My colleagues Jane and Lisa have already given the thank-yous that need to be said,” McDormand said. “We’re all here because of the power of the stories that need to be told. Sometimes that’s enough. Thank you.”
